Cactus prefer dry soil and air because they store water in their plump, fleshy spines, making them incredibly resilient and self-sufficient. In San Antonio, many cactus are adaptable to outdoor spaces in partial shade.
Water when the soil is completely dry.
Note: Check the soil before watering to avoid overwatering. Stick your finger or a wooden stick into the soil to the recommended depth. If it feels completely dry, it’s time to water. If it still feels damp or leaves moisture on your finger or stick, wait and check again later.
